What’s up fashionistas. Once a month, you gotta see the latest men’s trends, brand releases or fashion news through the eyes of your favorite average regular dude. This is the monthly catch.
Seriously George Lucas, you have been cashing on the success of Star Wars films for FAR TOO LONG. Since 1977, fan shirts, toys, figures or costumes steadily generates a couple of billions of dollars a year in retail. But the Star Wars licensed products also count numerous WTF items like breakfast beverage, steering wheel cover, death star ice trays … Does anybody remember the Dark Vador black Burger from this French fast food restaurant chain a couple of years back? This has been gone way too far. And I don’t even mention the legacy sacrilege of the second trilogy… But this is not the point here.
Anyway, there are still some cool collabs out there. Labels are still dying to get the license, and action sports brands have also been lurking on the franchise. Burton Snowboards released some kids boards until last years, Santa Cruz got a couple of cool skate decks this Fall and now, for the second installment of a collab that started last Summer, Vans just released the VANS x STAR WARS “Dark Side” collab. It features some of the most iconic Vans sneakers silhouettes with a Star Wars twist, and to go with it, some basics and even a couple of accessories – and of course, you can bet that daddy Star-Wars-fan WILL purchase the matching pair of sneakers for his baby soon-to-be Star-Wars-fan toddler.
So I gotta say, Vans has managed to release a very nice and well-executed capsule collab – and to my opinion, way nicer than its summer counter-part. Oh and last but not least, with this release, we can now definitely forget the adidas originals x Star Wars collab that has been going on for quite some years now. Please somebody take this images and bury them far, far away.
